This is another loaded class, over 10 videos! We will be setting 11 gemstones on this pendant! Since there is so much content, I will be using pre-fabricated tube settings that you can purchase from Rio or Otto Frei. Instruction includes the following stone setting techniques: How to enlarge tube bezels with a setting bur for a perfect fit.
BONUS: Making and fusing a pre-stepped bezel wire (before fabricating a bezel ) for a pear setting using the stepped wire and will provide instruction overview only of making an oval with the stepped wire if you want to add one. I will not be demoing the fabrication on the oval, however I will show you how to set a oval setting. You can use any other type of setting you possess the skills to make.
How to make twisted wire and bezel place holders and align them perfectly using dividers. How to solder multiple settings in “sections”
Setting stones, using only hand tools for oval and pears, and a bezel punch for round tube settings.
How to use a boric acid dip to prevent fire scale on your piece, Using jet set basic & thermoloc to hold on to your bezels individually so you can drill seats and file perfectly before attaching them to your pendant.
Making your own dapping block to form and add dimension to nearly any domed pice of jewelry without the need for a press or steel forming tools! (this is a game changer!) you can use this technique for making ovals hearts and many other shapes!
Fabrication of my beautiful bow tie chain & clasp, using snips and a set of wooden dowels without a jewelers saw to make beautiful jump rings!
And some tool modification tricks! this is an AMAZING class! And the pendant is a stunner and blinged out to the MAX!
Tools required are pretty standard these wood items are super inexpensive: a wood dowel for the chain, maple wood block to damp your pendant form. Wood dapping punches, Thermolock or Jett Basic, Setting pliers and basic jewelers tools, will be using only hand tools for setting including bezel setting punches, required to set the tube settings.
