This class will help you learn to design a ring with your own ideas. I will teach you how to solder on multiple bands, manipulate and angle wire to get a beautiful tapered look on your ring. This is a classic artesian style ring that has infinite design possibilities. This is an intermediate class. We will be using pre fabricated bezels which you can purchase (or make your own if you have the skills). Your design challenge is to use your own desired wire preferences and embellishments to decorate your ring. I’ll provide ring templates but will also show you how to design your own template and plan out your ring on grid paper. This is a really great class helping students to break through design frustration and learn to think outside the box, I will NOT be teaching gold techniques in this class but if your took my ANCIENT GOLDSMITHING CLASS (which runs again Jan 1st, 2021) you will already have the skills to add 22k gold to your ring! While I do not give out supply lists in advance besides basic tools, you will need a few special tools such as stepped ring mandrel in full and 1/2 sizes. Not mandatory but I recommend using a belt sander to save you on filing time, which you can purchase but not mandatory for about $66.00 to angle your ring. Students receive a discount on their metal and tools.
