This is s loaded class. Lots of great techniques to to learn!

We will be etching an 8 petaled dimensional mandala flower pendant and back plate. I will provide the etching patterns and PDF templates. You will learn silver etching, how to make a stone on setting, and as a bonus I will teach you how i make my double Viking knit chain! This is a intermediate project, Students should know how to solder and saw and problem solve.

While I can not give you a cost of supplies, it will depend on what you already have in your studio. I always recommend a proper torch (but students have completed with a butane) please see my torches and tanks free video sections for more info on torches). You'll need flex shaft but basic silver smithing tools are mostly used. There will be a complete detailed supply list given as soon as you sign up.

My supply lists are quite extensive since I have no idea what you currently have!  It's highly unlikely you will need all the tools on my supply list, but i list every tool used and give instruction on how to use them!  I don’t give out my supply lists until you sign up, be advised you should have a basic studio (metalsmithing) tools with soldering set up such as a flexshaft, files hammers etc. While this class can be completed with a butane torch, I always recommend that you use a proper acetylene or propane+oxy torch.  My students will get a 7% discount on supplies from Otto Frei

Special tools required: special burs, tube jig, wood dowels if you want to make the chain.
