This is a super fun class! You will learn how to fuse fine silver and granulation with a Smith little propane torch and a Rosebud tip, and I will also introduce you to fusing and granulation with a blow pipe torch (optional) which is one of the most primitive and easiest methods for fusing!

We will make a stunning pair of earrings out of fine silver and create step bezels to set 2 faceted stones. I’ll show you how to make & set, oval and cushion cut settings (and also how to shape a trillion but will not actually set the trillion). We will cut out matching oval and square shapes in the back plates, for this you can use a jewelers saw or a few burs ( I will not be teaching the gold flower as it taught in my Ancient gold smith class.). Your design challenge is to design your own earings! Everything will be fused, except for the little jump ring and a stamped round connector on the back of the earring which with will be soldered. Tools required are very basic. The blow pipe torch requires a smith little diposable propane regulator and hoses and a brass nipple! That’s it! You dont have to purchase the blow torch but I HIGHLY recommend you try this new way of fusing its fantastic!. Of course you can use you smith little propane torch with a Rosebud tip for fusing also. ( I do not teach with acetylene so I can not guarantee your success to fuse with it). I used a bezel rocker to set the oval and a hammer hand piece on the cushion setting (not required ). use the tool you can afford. I also used a ball vice to hold my piece while i set the stone, these tools are convenient but not required.

Basic tools required, hand cutting shears, files assorted pliers, mini mandrels, polishing tools. Please feel free to ask questions if you have them by using the contact link in the website menu above.
