CUFF ROYALE hollow formed cuff ONLINE CLASS!
CUFF ROYALE Class Runs 8/6/20 to 10/20/20. If you sign up early you will get over 10 weeks of class time. We will be making a hollow formed cuff. This is an ADVANCED class. Students should posses the ability to problem solve soldering and sawing issues. Lots of precise measuring cutting and soldering required. We will etch a cuff and use a rolling mill to fabricate the components. You must have access to a rolling mill, or find someone to step roll housing and tongue components for you to take this class.
Several specialty files and oval and round bracelet mandrels are needed. You must have a proper torch as this will require a lot of heat, (AIr plus gas no butane) watch my video on torches and tanks in the free videos section.
In this class we will make a etched, hollow formed cuff with a cradle hinge and box clasp with safety catch! Awesome skills to have! Within 24 hours of purchasing the class you will get the supply list , so sign up early for extra class time!! to PURCHASE click HERE
LA BELLE EPOQUE BRACELET ONLINE CLASS TRAILER
NEW CLASS! La Belle Epoque was a time in history known as “The Beautiful Age” This is a wonderful piece reminiscent of that time. This is a wonderful class, you can click the above image for a preview.
In this class I’ll teach you to make a beautiful heirloom bracelet. This is an intermediate class NOT for new smiths. You will learn to layer and solder textures. You can use a rolling mill for texture or if you prefer to etch instead , Silver etching is included. Learn to planish wire, make creative wire and tube hinges set with cabochons, and use metal stampings as decorations. I’ll show you how to use texture wheels too.
While I don’t give out my supply lists in advance, along with basic tools, some special tools required, a wood bracelet mandrel, wheel bur, decorative metal stamps, a proper torch ( air plus gas) is recommended, and the rest is mostly standard silversmithing tools & files .If you decide to etch then you will need special chemicals, and a hot plate also which will be in your supply list. If you are subscribed i’ll email you when registration opens .
RINGS BOHEME & SPINNERS (ANTICLASTIC)
For video class preview click here : https://youtu.be/kJzEG3fSoOU This is great class for beginners (with soldering experience ) to intermediate levels. A beautiful twist on a classic "spinner" style ring. You will learn to create a texture on a ring shank 3 ways: by hammering, etching or using metal patterns in a rolling mill. (NO rolling mill needed). I'll teach you how to successfully flare a ring, make a good solder join, and create a custom beautiful round bezel setting for a faceted stone, decorate it with gallery wire and and set it on a curve. This class is quick and the project can be completed in one to 2 days! You can use butane but i always suggest a proper torch (oxy/propane or Acetylene, see my Free videos section on torches) and basic tools such as flex shaft, good files, dapping punch set a few Burs, set to name a few. The rest of the items will be on the supply list which is available after you purchase the class. Hope you can join me!
ALL THAT GLITTERS -Earrings (fusing and granulation)
NEW!! ALL THAT GLITTERS (fusing and granulation with fine silver)
This is a super fun class! You will learn how to fuse fine silver and granulation with a Smith little propane torch and a Rosebud tip, and I will also introduce you to fusing and granulation with a blow pipe torch (optional) which is one of the most primitive and easiest methods for fusing!
We will make a stunning pair of earrings out of fine silver and create step bezels to set 2 faceted stones. I’ll show you how to make & set, oval and cushion cut settings (and also how to shape a trillion but will not actually set the trillion). We will cut out matching oval and square shapes in the back plates, for this you can use a jewelers saw or a few burs ( I will not be teaching the gold flower as it taught in my Ancient gold smith class.). Your design challenge is to design your own earings! Everything will be fused, except for the little jump ring and a stamped round connector on the back of the earring which with will be soldered. Tools required are very basic. The blow pipe torch requires a smith little diposable propane regulator and hoses and a brass nipple! That’s it! You dont have to purchase one but I HIGHLY recommend you try this new way of fusing its fantastic!. Of course you can use you smith little propane torch with a Rosebud tip for fusing also. ( I do not teach with acetylene so i can not guarantee your success to fuse with it NO butane). I used a bezel rocker to set the oval and a hammer hand piece on the cushion setting (not required ). use the tool you can afford. I also used a ball vice to hold my piece while i set the stone, these tools are convenient but not required.
Basic tools required, hand cutting shears, files assorted pliers, mini mandrels, polishing tools. Please feel free to ask questions if you have them by using the contact link in the website menu above.
CUPCAKE RINGS
Class preview link : https://youtu.be/V3RPggqmcoQ This class includes silver etching instruction for those who do not own rolling mills (please note I will not be provide etching patterns and encourage people to use their own designs). CUPCAKE RINGS online class is for LEVELS 2 & 3 (intermediate to advanced ) Precise sawing and measuring required , not for beginners. We will make and form a ring, and create a double bezel setting using a hammer hand piece) TOOLS: While i do not give out supply lists in advance, assuming you have a studio set up ,please note a proper torch is recommended but students have successful completed with a butane torch. required (acetylene or propane+oxygen is best) See my free video’s section (on Torches and Tanks) if you need help setting up a torch**** THIS CLASS REQUIRES A HAMMER HAND-PIECE and a DIAMOND TIP (the diamond tip is about $29) You will also need files and a miter jig, as well as regular metal smithing tools. If you have questions please use the CONTACT link to ask BEFORE you purchase the class.
Princess Rings
NEW **** PRINCESS RINGS! Click here for a class preview: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aG7Ig-HbyVk
This class is for intermediate to advanced students. This is a gorgeous ring and is super fun to make. I will provide an etching template to etch the design onto sterling silver, curve the bezel to fit the stone and teach you how to make step bezels for the center stone. I’ll also show you how make an easy modified flush setting using a jump ring and instead of burnishing in the stone , we will set it with a hammer piece!
I will not be teaching gold in this class, as I teach that in my Ancient Goldsmith class, if you have taken that class or have experience do not give out supply lists until after you purchase so please review these TOOL NOTES: you’ll need basic metalsmithing tools including a flex shaft, several burs, drill bits, and a few special files. I recommend a proper torch , but you could use a butane if thats all you have. You will need a device to hold your ring, if you don’t have a GRS ball vice or GRS bench mate ( I demo these in the class) you can use some GRS Thermo-Loc Sticks around your ring and and put in in some kind of a vice to hold it ready while your setting your stones. You must have a hammer hand piece to complete the jump ring settings, and and we will modify a foredom ball tip to go with it. Hope you can join me, it’s a great class! These rings are amazing!
NEW** BLOOMING RAIN Pendant online class
This class begins begins 9/20 and ends Oct 15 2020. ETCHING class is NOT included. We will use a rolling mill to texture our metal, or you can hammer texture or leave it untextured. Come join me and I’ll teach you how to make 2 different styles of layered flower centers with tube settings nestled in the center.
I will be teaching how to modify pre made oval and tube settings for this class. The “raindrops” will be listed on your supply list ( It is not necessary to add the rain drops, you can decorate with balls or exclude them). Basic metal smith tools required, nothing major you will need a planishing hammer for the flowers. This could be done with a large butane, or proper jewelers torch. The dangle on the bottom will be modified to an oval stone and will be your design challenge! No Chain is taught in this class. LOTS of soldering and forming! Hope you can join me! Registration is now open. I hope you can join me!

Passionate Hinges online class.
This class is intermediate/advanced. We will do a lot of sawing and soldering, and layering! Hinges require patience, perseverance, and soldering experience. Hinges on this bracelet have decorative heated ball rivets which you will not be able to make without a Smith little or Mecco midget torch *** if you use a diff torch including butane or a torch with ambient air torch or other you will have to hammer set rivet the hinges which works fine but is not taught in this class.
Please visit my free videos section on torches and tanks if you need help with torches. The smith little or meco torch are perfect for this project. You can ETCH (or use a rolling mill for texturing. silver etching video is included.
I do not give out materials and supply lists until you purchase the class, You will need mostly basic silver smithing tools, files, flex shaft, pliers/mandrels, soldering setup and a Tube Jig, or miter which you may or may not already have.
Students will get a discount on supplies from Otto Frei!
This is an AWESOME class! many of you have eagerly been waiting for this one, hope you can join me!
